Earlier this year I purchased a Crafted in Japan (CIJ) Fender Jaguar electric guitar used on Craigslist. After playing it for a few weeks I noticed there were things I really liked about it, (the overall quality and the playability of the neck) and other aspects I didn’t much care for (the sound quality of the pickups and design of the bridge). With helpful suggestions from my friend Stevie I upgraded the pickups, tremolo, bridge, electronics and pickguard. It became a great guitar for a fraction of the price of an American made version, which are typically regarded as higher quality. Of the guitars I own, it’s now my favorite to play.
I decided to create this website as a way to document and share the process with others. I encourage visitors of this site to post comments or create new posts documenting their own experiences upgrading any make and model of electric guitar. With any luck this site will become a valuable resource for guitar enthusiasts who are interested in upgrading, customizing and showing off their favorite modified guitars.
A few tips for posting:
- Please only create posts of guitars which have been modified, no stock guitars.
- Please choose the appropriate make and model of your guitar when filling out your post.
- If you don’t find the make and model listed please tag your post with the make and model and an administrator will add the new category before publishing your post.
